A recent permit application shows Hobby Lobby intends to move into the old Toys R Us location in Silverdale. The store will be located across the street from Kitsap Mall, at 3567 NW Randall Way, Silverdale, WA 98383.
The Toys R Us store closed in 2018, following the Toys R Us Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing in 2017. Since then, the building has been used seasonally as a temporary retail store by Spirit Halloween. The recent permit indicates that Hobby Lobby plans to remodel the nearly 50,000 square foot store, reconfigure the parking lot, and establish occupancy.
The Kitsap Sun reported, “As part of the renovations to the building, Hobby Lobby plans to redo over 5,000 square feet of parking lot, triggering a requirement for a site development activity permit (SDAP).” The Kitsap Sun article source is here (for paid subscribers only). The permit applications also indicate additional landscaping work.

The permit application was submitted in December of 2020. Additional engineering and design work will be required, so it’s unclear how long renovations may take.
Initial rumors suggested Hobby Lobby might go into the old Sears location at Kitsap Mall, but permits show that WinCo Foods will take over the old Sears building in Silverdale instead.
Hobby Lobby stores are already found throughout many Washington cities, shown on the map below (click for all locations).
