Fireworks at the Fjord – July 3rd
Vendors open at noon and the fireworks start at 10:15 pm.
In the charming Scandinavian town of Poulsbo, WA, the Independence Day celebrations start a day early! This family-friendly 4th of July tradition attracts residents and tourists by car, boat and seaplane to Liberty Bay Marina for a fantastic display of fireworks over the water.
Prior to the show, spend the afternoon at the festival or enjoy the downtown shops and restaurants. There’s usually food and craft booths, patriotic music and dancing.
Why it’s Great
Poulsbo offers great views from both sides of Liberty Bay, and downtown activities for the whole family all afternoon. There’s something special about watching fireworks over the water, especially when Liberty Bay is crammed full of boats. Before the show begins, you can usually spot small fireworks displays from locals who are eager to impress the captive audience. And at the end of the show, all the boats honk to signal the grand finale.
About the Venue
Visitors to Liberty Bay Marina in Poulsbo are greeted by Muriel Iverson Williams Waterfront Park, with its grass lawns, public restrooms, Austin-Kvelstad Pavilion, and pedestrian boardwalk that links to Waterfront Park. The charming downtown shops and restaurants offer something to do for the whole family!
Note: Parking is limited downtown, so plan to arrive early and enjoy the festival. Usually, low-cost cabs run between North Kitsap High School and the nearby downtown (kids 5 and under ride free). Be prepared for traffic on Highway 3, Highway 305, and Viking Ave NW after the show ends.
